しらはぎておけはないれ 白萩手桶花入

三輪 壽雪(11代休雪) みわ じゅせつ(11だいきゅうせつ)

三輪壽雪(1910-2012)は、山口県阿武郡(現、萩市)にて旧萩藩御用窯を務めた三輪家九代雪堂の三男として生まれ、同じく陶工の休和を兄にもつ。本名は節夫。昭和42年(1967)に「休雪」(十一代)を襲名。昭和58年(1983)、2人目の重要無形文化財「萩焼」保持者に認定されます。平成15年(2003)には長男龍作に代をゆずり、「壽雪」と号します。
この作品は、よく木製で目にする手桶の形を花入としたやきものです。その形を写すままではなく、休和とともに完成させた釉薬「休雪白」の純白が、黒味のある化粧掛けされた土の色を引き立たせており、魅力的な仕上がりとなっています。土ものであることを内発しながらも主張しすぎない独特の美感は、新しい釉薬を完成させた者であるからこそ出せる美しさなのかもしれません。

Miwa Jusetsu (Kyusetsu XI)

Miwa Jusetsu (1910 – 2012) was the third son born to the 9th Setsudo of the Miwa family, whose kiln was appointed as the Hagi clan’s official kiln, in Hagi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture.His real name was Setsuo. The famous potter Kyuwa was his elder brother. He succeeded his brother to adopt the artist identity of “Kyusetsu” and became “Kyusetsu XI” in 1967.
He was certified by the Japanese government to be the second holder of the important intangible cultural property, the “Hagi ware” technique, in 1983. He surrendered the headship of the family to his eldest son, Ryosaku, in 2003, and adopted the artist name “Jusetsu”.
This piece is a Hagi ware flower vase that is realistically shaped to look like an ordinary wooden bucket. In addition to its shape, its finish is also captivating in terms of color. This was accomplished by applying Kyusetsu White, a pure white glaze developed by Jusetsu in cooperation with Kyuwa, over the entire body to bring out the darkish color of the underlying clay. This White Hagi ware expresses the unique sense of aesthetics of a potter who fully appreciates the value of earthenware, but does not overly emphasize its earthenware origins. It may be that the beauty of this pottery could only have been created by Jusetsu, who completed this impressive new glaze technique by working hard together with his brother.

三輪壽雪(1910-2012)出生於山口縣阿武郡(現在的萩市),是曾擔任舊萩藩禦用窯的三輪家第九代雪堂的三兒子,哥哥是同為陶瓷工匠的休和。本名節夫。昭和42年(1967年)繼承了“休雪”(第十一代)。昭和58年(1983年),被認定為第二位重要非物質文化遺產“萩燒”的持有者。平成15年(2003年),長子龍作繼承家業,名號“壽雪”。
此作品是常見的木製水桶狀的花瓶。不單是表現形狀,與休和一起完成的釉藥“休雪白”的純白,更加襯托出黑土的顏色,讓作品更具魅力。粘土本身內斂的獨特美感,也許隻有創造了新釉的人,才能將其表現出來。

미와 쥬세츠(11대 미와 큐세츠)

1965

미와 쥬세츠(1910-2012)는, 야마구치현 아부군(현, 하기시)에서 옛 하기번 어용 가마를 맡았던 미와 집안 9대 당주의 셋째 아들로 태어났습니다. 본명은 사다오. 그는 쇼와42년(1967)에 10대 당주인 형 큐와로부터 ‘큐세츠’의 호를 계승받아 11대 당주가 됩니다. 쇼와58년(1983), 중요 무형 문화재 ‘하기야키’의 두번째 기술 보유자로 인정을 받았고, 헤이세이15년(2003)에는 장남 류사쿠에게 ‘큐세츠’의 자리를 물려주고 본인은 ‘쥬세츠’라는 호를 붙이게 됩니다.
이 작품은 손잡이가 있는 나무 들통의 모양을 빌려 꽃병으로 만든 자기입니다. 그 형태를 그대로 따라한 것이 아니라, 형 큐와와 함께 완성시킨 유약 ‘큐세츠지로(休雪白)’의 순백색을 이용해 화장된 흙의 검은 빛을 살려 더욱 매력적인 작품을 만들어 냈습니다. 흙으로 빚은 작품임을 보여주면서도 과하게 드러내지 않는 독특한 미감은, 그가 새로운 유약을 완성시킨 인물이었기 때문에 만들어 낼 수 있는 아름다움일지도 모르겠습니다.
